Informer Money publishes educational content about personal finance: budgeting, banking and credit, investing, taxes, insurance, real estate, and income. Money decisions affect people's lives, so this page explains how our content is produced and what you can expect from it.

Who writes our content

Every article is written by a named author. Each byline links to an author page with their background and the articles they have written. You can also see the whole team on our About page.

Research and sources

Authors work from primary sources wherever possible: government agencies and regulators such as the IRS, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Federal Reserve, the SEC and the FDIC; official program pages; and the disclosures and terms published by banks, lenders, card issuers and other providers. Where an article cites a specific figure, rule or deadline, we link to the source it came from. Third-party analysis is attributed to the organization that produced it.

Accuracy and fact-checking

The author of each article is responsible for checking its facts, figures and sources before it is published. Rates, fees, contribution limits, tax brackets and program rules change, so articles say when a figure applies to a particular year or date.

Product comparisons and “best” lists

When we compare financial products, we look at the things that affect what you pay and what you get: rates, fees, minimums, terms, eligibility requirements, account protections and features. We base those comparisons on the provider's own published information at the time of writing. Products and terms change after publication, so always confirm the current details with the provider before you apply or open an account.

Updates and corrections

We revise articles when the facts behind them change. When an article has been changed after it was published, it shows an Updated date next to the original publication date.

If you spot an error, please email [email protected] with the article link and what you believe is wrong. We review every report and correct errors promptly.
