About this template
Financial independence, retire early (FIRE) starts with one number: how much you’d need invested for your portfolio to cover your spending. This workbook calculates that FI number from your spending and withdrawal rate, shows how far along you are, and estimates how many years it could take to get there.
Enter your age, investable assets, spending, income, savings rate and return assumptions. The workbook projects your portfolio year by year in today’s dollars, estimates your FI age, and — if you set a target retirement age — shows whether you’re on track and the annual contribution that would get you there. Every result is an illustrative estimate, not a promise.
